10 Best Reasons Working Remotely From Home Is So Personally Gratifying

Your employees aren’t the only one that benefits
You wake up this morning unlike so many before.
Your eyes spring wide open, letting in the light of a new day on the job. This day there’s no alarm ringing in my ear, disrupting that last joyful moment of your dream. No, not for me and a growing number of employees who prefer to work from home or remotely from their locations.
This day you wake up at your own time.
The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it.
The trend is growing
Ever since the Corvid virus hit, many employees worked from home.
Now there’s a growing trend for employees to work from home, or remotely and gaining momentum. There’s even an acronym for it, WFH, who knew. I thought it meant “wait a f***ing hour” or” what’s the f***ing hurry. Having worked from home and out of my house for better than forty years.
I’d like to share my experience with whoever is considering trying it for themselves or their employees.
- Without a doubt, there has to be flexibility.
This being the overriding theme of the others. Having more control over your time, and your life is the main reason you able to fulfill the others.
2. You plan your work schedule to compliment your life.
Life today has its own unique demands. Households have both parties working, and makes family life challenging. Having the ability to work around the family and being able to spend more quality time together. This can relive stress and anxiety in our lives.
3. Provides you the flexibility to attend to personal matters without missing a whole day of work.
There are times we have personal business to conduct. It could be a meeting with your banker, insurance agent, perhaps your doctor, or for whatever reason. These appointments must be scheduled on regular business days and hours. Sometimes this would require you to take the whole day off. You would have taken less time off if it wasn’t for the additional travel.
It doesn’t have had to interrupt the whole workday.
4. Allows you to work at your peak time of the day.
We all have times of the day or night when we’re at our peak.
The time we’re most awake and alert, feeling our best. That’s the time you’re the most inspired, motivated, and productive. Our vision is clear and our minds sharp.
The moments for our best performance.
5. Still being productive on bad weather days.
No matter where you live, there’ll be those days. Times when the weather could put a stop to your workday. Whether it’s the commute to work or interfering with your ability to do the job.
Weather is not a factor, you are still able to work.
6. Your earnings will increase by saving on commutes, clothes, and meals, for starters.
It’s not free to go to work for most people.
Like everything else in life, there’s a cost. Commuting to work, whether you drive to work or take some form of transportation. it’s not free. If you drive there’s the added expense for fuel, insurance, and maintenance etc.
Add the extra time you are spending and not earning.
Then there’s the issue of clothes, is there a dress code?
Is it really necessary to be dressed in proper business attire all the time? Clothes and the laundering of them is not free either.
Then there are meals. Many times you could choose to eat from home. This could cost considerably less than dining out every day.
7. You can choose to work weekends and holidays.
As long as you meet the deadline required, you can get it done when you choose to.
You could choose to work at times when you would otherwise be out of the office. Trade-off a weekday and use your weekend to complete the assignment.
8. Adjust your time to meet deadlines and special projects.
Similar to the last, the flexibility allows you to move on a project as soon as you get it. There’s no waiting until you get to the office. Sometimes projects need imidate attention and followed through to the end.
These projects will be without any interruption for weekends and holidays.
9. Increase in self-confidence and sense of achievement.
This may sound strange but until you’ve experienced it yourself, it’s hard to describe.
When you take on a task and complete it to satisfaction without anyone’s help and guidance. You gain confidence and security in your knowledge and skills.
You get a true sense of independence and accomplishment.
10. I’ll finish with this one.
Wouldn’t you love to reduce the anxiety and stress in your life? You can breathe a little easier, feeling you have more control over your life. The feeling of freedom.
Sure you’ll have reasons of your own, but here are some of the ones I’ve been able to appreciate.
Life without liberty is like a body without spirit.
There are benefits for the employer too
I’m Not going to list them here.
Food for another article. In a brief explanation, having been an employer, I also see how this can be applied to many different jobs.
When you signed up to be a business person or a manager, you didn’t intend to be a babysitter. When a manager’s sole purpose is to watch the employees and make sure they’re doing their job.
You don’t have to wonder, do I have the right employees?
If your business calls for professional adults.
That proved they have the training, knowledge, and experience for the job. Then it shouldn’t require anybody to watch them? All you want is a finished product. As long as it meets your standards, is of quality, and is delivered on time. Do you care how, when, where they did it?
Whether they were in their underwear, sitting on the toilet scratching their ass, or picking up their kids from school.
As long as the job is completed in a timely, cost-effective manner, you’re happy.
Additionally, there will be cost-saving on business. Minimize you space requirements, reducing overhead costs. Increased employee satisfaction will lead to more productivity and longer retention.
I’m not naive there are some cons.
There’s always something or someone to mess things up.
I find it rather easy to portray a businessman. Being bland, rather cruel and incompetent comes naturally to me.
The main one is your choice of employee. They must be skilled and knowledgeable. They need to be mature, responsible, professionals who can work unsupervised.
The only thing left is to give it a try. You might find it might be what you need. For you and your best employees.
A chance to a whole new life. Enjoy the journey. Good luck.
Thanks for reading. As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
To a wonderful life.
