Many people have asked me for an updated list of the best passive income apps where you can, with very little effort—just a few clicks—set it up and then start earning without doing anything extra.
Therefore, I decided to write this article where I will list 10 realistic ways to do this because there’s a lot of hype about passive income and lies out there. So here, I will show you something realistic.
I know that works because I have used it myself and then you can use that to find the right opportunities for you. So before going over the 10 options, I just want to talk about what to expect.

You can earn from these passive income apps. Because in general, when it comes to passive income, there’s a lot of hype out there. You have probably seen people claiming, click a button, earn $500 a day—all these kinds of scam claims, all these things.
So when it comes to passive income, what I’m talking about here is how to build up something that generates with minimal effort and continues to do so as long as you keep on putting little to no effort into it, and that’s it.
I’ve been doing a lot of them myself, too. So passive income in that way means that you will also earn when you’re not working. But it doesn’t mean not working. That’s not what I’m talking about here.
What I define as passive is that you do not really have to do anything to get started. You don’t have to do anything, in general, extra to keep earning.
So it is super easy. It’s something anyone can do and that’s a method we will go through here. That also means that because there is no effort, there’s no requirement, and it takes a few minutes to get started, the earning potential is, of course, not huge.
It’s not something that will make you rich, give you a full-time income, or anything like that. And that is very important to understand so you do it with the right expectations.
These options, as mentioned, are easy to get started with. They are completely free and they can be a way to earn a bit of extra money on the side. If that is what you are looking for, then these options are for you.
So let’s now go over these 10 options. It’s not necessarily a prioritized list because exactly which ones are the best depends on your personal preferences.
You can use just one, two, or as many of them as you want to. But let’s now get started with the list.
So when it comes to passive income apps for both your phone and computer, these are the best passive income apps.
Option 1: Honeygain
I’ve talked about it before and the reason for that is that when it comes to passive, it is one of the easiest methods. You will just install it and then you will earn money on your device.
You can download it on different devices and you will then share your unused internet bandwidth. It will not earn you a lot, but as mentioned, you do not have to do anything extra.

But just to make it clear here for Honeygain, how much you can earn will vary depending on your country because, in some countries, the demand for the internet is just bigger. But in general, there are also other ways to earn.
You can invite friends, and you can install it on more devices. They have some bonus opportunities in there. You can get paid via PayPal or you can get paid in crypto. And it is a platform you can use no matter what country you live in.
Option 2: Nielsen computer and mobile panel
This is a platform that you install; as you can see, it can be on the computer or mobile, and the name gives it away. You will earn money by participating in market research. You don’t have to do anything.
So it’s not like you have to answer a survey. Sometimes you might have some that you can choose to participate in, but overall, they will gather anonymous information about how you use the internet, combine that with the data of the other members, and that will be used for market research to help improve certain websites, certain online services, and all these different things.
So you don’t have to do anything once you’ve installed it. It is not available in a lot of countries. It is like 5, 10, or something like that where they are recruiting.
But also, you need to be aware that this will not give you huge rewards. Exactly how much you can earn will vary depending on your country. But as you can see for example, right here in the US, we’re talking up to $60 in reward points for gift cards there.
But they also have some instant-win games and some other research opportunities you potentially can participate in.
So in general, you can see it’s a little bit of side income—not a huge amount but again, you don’t have to do anything extra, which is the beauty of it. And if you combine it with other options, then it’s a nice little extra reward to get once in a while.
So the next option is interesting and it is my favorite.
Option 3: Ember fund
if you are interested in earning Bitcoin for free. This Ember Fund is for you and I started to like it. It’s an app you can download both for Android and iOS devices for more or less all countries and you can mine Bitcoin by clicking a button once per day.
And then it will just mine on your phone; you will earn free bitcoin for 24 hours and your phone doesn’t even have to be on once you click the button.
So it’s really easy there. It also has more active ways you can earn by taking paid surveys, participating in tournaments, predicting the outcome of current events, and a few other things. So you can also use it actively.
But you should, if you decide to use it, make sure to click that button once per day because then you’ll just earn continuously free Bitcoin. And you need to earn $5, then you can get it into your wallet inside Ember Fund.
You can hold it there if you want to hold on to it or you can invest it in different crypto portfolios in different cryptos or if you choose to, you can also take it out to any other Bitcoin wallet.

Option 4: Swagbucks
So this one is, by many, maybe not seen as a passive income app or website. But my definition of it is that you do not have to do anything extra and Swagbucks is one of the biggest get-paid-to sites and many of the methods to earn here.
You do have to do something like take paid surveys, watch videos, and do all these different things. But it also has cashback offers and that’s not only Swagbucks that has them; it’s one of the websites that has a lot of them in certain countries, especially in the bigger English-speaking countries.
And that means that if you ever shop online and you go and find, because they have partnered with thousands of different online retailers and stores and you shop through here, you just click a link and you do the shopping you were supposed to do anyways, then you’ll get a percentage of whatever you spend if they have partnered with that store into your Swagbucks account.
So again, you can even install an extension for your browser for your reminders, so you don’t even have to go to Swagbucks to look for the deals—all these different things are there. So in my opinion, if you ever shop online using a platform like Swagbucks to get cashback deals, it can be a good way to earn passively because you don’t have to do anything.
You’re just shopping for whatever you want anyway, and then you get a portion of whatever you spend back into your account. And Swagbucks you can use from more or less all countries.

Option 5: Pawns. app.
This is one of my best apps as well. You can use it not only on the phone but also on the computer to earn passively because you can earn by sharing your unused internet. So if you just install it, you don’t have to do anything.
Whenever you’re online, you will earn in the background. As it is with methods like this, it won’t earn you a huge amount, and how much you can earn will vary depending on the country you live in and the current demand for internet there.
But overall, it’s just so easy. So if you know you have unlimited internet, then why not earn a little bit from it anyway? Also, you will get a joining bonus if you join through an invitation link. You will need a referral to be able to earn a referral bonus of $3.
Also, be aware that you can earn passively by taking paid surveys. The paid surveys are not available on the website but only through the app. So just be aware of that.
And they do have paid surveys available in more than 100 different countries and in general, you can use the passive earning option in basically all countries.
Once you’ve only earned $5, you can take your earnings out. You can choose to get paid via PayPal or Bitcoin or choose between different gift cards. The exact number of gift cards available will depend on the country you live in.
Option 6: Crypto.com
This is one of my favorite crypto apps if you are interested in cryptocurrency in general, because it’s super easy to use even as a beginner if you’re interested in buying, selling crypto, and all that.
But that is not why it is on this list, because here we are talking about passive ways to earn. So if you’re interested in crypto, then you can claim some diamonds every single day by clicking one button there.
You can also use the earn option there, where you will earn interest on staking. You would earn interest on whatever crypto you have anyway.
So yes, it would require you to have some crypto and I know that you might think, well, you said in the beginning that all of this is completely free. And yes, that is also true because if you do not have crypto, you can just earn interest on it or stake the diamonds to earn interest.
Again, when it comes to crypto, any kind of investment is completely at your own risk. I’m not a financial advisor. I cannot tell you what crypto to do to stake it to do whatever.
I’m just telling you this is an option. You need to do your research. But if you don’t want to invest, you can just use some of the earning methods for example, that I’ve talked about here that pay out in crypto. You can take it into the Crypto.com app, and then you can earn more passively by staking it, earning interest, or doing other things there.
Also, Crypto.com does have a joining bonus if you live up to certain conditions and join through an invitation link.
Option 7: GetGrass
So this passive income app here is a little bit unusual because it was in beta at the time of writing this article. But by the time you read this, it might be possible to get your earnings out.
This is where you can earn money by sharing your unused internet bandwidth. They say that compared to the competitors, they want to make it a more ethical network where you get paid better and all that.
We will have to see how it goes. So you need to do it with the right expectations. If you get in early, then you can get more benefits and earn more.
I will also again have a full review when they do launch it so we can get paid for the value of all that. I will update that information.
I cannot guarantee how this will go or when you will be able to take your earnings out. So we’ll have to wait and see.
But I just find it interesting so I wanted to mention it here and then you can decide for yourself if you want to give it a go now. If you want to wait and see once it’s fully launched, if you think it’ll be worth it,.
Option 8: Tapestri app
I honestly have mixed feelings about this. I still mentioned it here because it is one of the apps where you can earn passively. I have also been paid by it, so I know that you can get paid by sharing your data.
You can just install it and then see how it works. It has different options you can choose to share your location and other data with. You can do that inside the settings.
They also have an affiliate program where you can pay to potentially earn by inviting others. So overall, I think the idea of it is kind of nice. I think that it is not as great and the earning potential is not as great as many people claim, but I have been paid by it.
It is a passive way to potentially earn money, but you need to do it with the right expectations. It’s currently not one of my favorites but again, I want to present a broad range of different options so that you can choose for yourself which of the options you think fits you.
You can join it from more or less all countries. There are some that aren't yet available, but they do continuously launch in new countries. It is definitely available in many different countries. My invitation link to get started.
Option 9: Sweatcoin
This is where you can get paid to walk. You might say that that’s not a passive way to earn money, but what I am saying is that you do not have to do anything extra.
You just install it on your phone. You have your phone with you when you are walking, or running, for that matter, and then you will earn per step you take inside the Sweatcoin app itself.
You can get paid in cash. Mostly, it’s gift cards and different rewards. But if you connect to the sweat wallet, then you can earn crypto at the same time.
Sweat crypto has a real value that you can take out. You can exchange if you want to. So you can also download it and connect it to that, and then you will earn inside Sweatcoin and Sweat Wallet.
So that’s why I think it’s interesting. It does not earn you a lot but again, I have it installed just because I think it’s quite interesting to keep track of how many steps I take, and at the same time, I earn a little bit extra once in a while. You can use my invitation link to get started
Option 10: Coin app
You can install this app on Android and iOS devices in basically all countries. It is a geo-mining app so you will share your location and you can earn just by having the phone with you.
You can also get a device where you can earn more when you’re driving, so especially if you’re driving a lot, this can be an option.
Just be aware that you’ll get paid in crypto, for example, in Bitcoin and Ethereum. The payout threshold is very high so that will take a lot of patience.
but you can also get different products as rewards if you want to. You can also earn actively inside the app by, for example, taking paid surveys and doing other small tasks.
