1 View Is All You Need To Create Quality Content
1 Life-Changing View > 1,000 Mediocre Views

How would you feel if you wrote an article and got 1 view?
You’d probably feel like shit.
Now how would you feel about writing an article and getting 1,000 views?
I think you’d feel pretty flipping great.
But what if that 1 person who viewed your article had their life changed because of you. I think that would feel even better than 1,000 views. And because of this…
1 life changing read > 1,000 mediocre views.
Now imagine writing every article with the aim of changing 1 person’s life. Think of how that would skyrocket your growth and content quality.
This is what I call the 1 view rule.
How The 1 View Rule Helps You Create Quality Content
Imagine if every article you wrote would only get 1 view, but that 1 person would have their life changed by your article. That would be incredible. If I’ve written 147 articles, I’ve changed 147 lives. That’s the dream, right? To have such an impact on people.
Now consider how would that change the way you write? Would you put in more effort? More love and care for that 1 reader? Would you write better? The answer is yes you would.
Not only do you get to create quality content for other people but you get to reap some benefits as well. Here are the skills and treats you receive by writing for that 1 reader.
- You get to write with the reader in mind
Probably one of the most underrated and difficult skills to apprehend on medium. Yet one that cannot be stressed enough in value. Take Amazon for example. They’re winning because they’re so consumer-focused. They work incredibly hard to create one-day delivery. Heck, they even have same-day delivery now. That focus and care for the consumers are what is makes them number 1.
Do the same with writing. When writing with the reader in mind you’re boosting the quality of your content and you’ll skyrocket to the top of the medium.
- You become grateful for receiving 1 view
Tom Kuegler wrote an article talking about how receiving even 1 view is a miracle. And that we should practice gratitude for even being lucky enough to receive 1 view. And he’s right. We take Medium for granted, and we’ve set our expectations so high that we’re disappointed if we only get a couple of thousand views. By writing with only 1 reader in mind, you’ll only expect 1 reader to view your work. And when you receive more than 1 read you’ll become ecstatic.
- You’ll feel great writing every article
When writing with the thought that, “Hey, what I’m writing right now will change someone’s life”. You’ll feel amazing. To think that the words you’re typing with you’re own two hands will impact someone so greatly, it makes you feel powerful. But it also makes you grateful for your opportunities and ability to write.
1 View Is All You Need To Create Quality Content
So whenever your in the midst of writing an article, write with that 1 reader in mind who’s life might be changed because of you. Try to pack as much value as you can into it.
If you end up getting only 1 view, great you met your goals. But you’ll probably get more views than that and this way you’ve produced a high quality article that people will fall in love with.
